General Notes

The judges will be looking for the best dancing with your partner ('cause it's a partner dance), dancing with the music (musicality) and that special pizzazz that makes you stand out in the crowd.

All competitors must hold a full weekend package (with or without classes) to Lindy Bout VI in order to compete in any match, with the exception of the Trad Jazz Match.

The Relative Placement System will be used to determine Finalists and Champions.

Preliminary rounds will be danced in an all-skate format. All final rounds will be danced in a combined all-skate and spotlight format to a live band with the exception of the Interregional Match which will be danced to djed music.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the Champions; the amount is proportional to the number of competitors in each match.

Decorative, colourful and/or vintage attire is not mandatory, but it greatly enhances the way you look while you are competing, and we strongly encourage it.

Battle of the Western DJs

Regional battles will be held in early 2012 across Western Canada to choose representatives from the BC Lower Mainland, Victoria and the Praries. The three finalists will battle for the crown on Friday night at Lindy Bout. This year, inspired by Frankie Manning, the dj sets will be judged by how well they answer the question "Is it swingin' Jim?". That is, who gave the swingin-est, most joyful, most in-the-spirit-of-Frankie set? Finalists will be judged by a panel of peers, Lindy Bout judges and dancers.
