Class Descriptions

There will be six classes offered during Lindy Bout. All classes are at a solid intermediate level. You should be familiar with both 6 and 8 count Lindy hop basics as well as the Charleston basic footwork. The swing-out, tuck turn, lindy circle and side by side Charleston should all be your good dancing friends.

Frankie Favourites
with Jodi & Calle

In a way, every Lindy hop class is a tribute to Frankie. But then there are some particular moves, concepts and patterns that are especially so. More than that, there is the joy that Frankie brought to every class. Discover that joy in this class with Calle and Jodi, both of whom worked closely with him -- Calle in Herräng and elsewhere, training and dancing since the beginning of the swing revival in the 1980s, and Jodi as a teaching partner to Frankie, through the late 1990s and 2000s.

Join Calle and Jodi for this very special Frankie Favourites class!

Jazz with Calle
with Calle

Everybody benefits from more solo jazz. The rhythm and body movement it brings to your partner dancing is key to advancing on the social floor. And it's awesome all on its own. Calle's jazz will challenge and delight you, as well as give you some of your greatest new steps, with or without a partner.

Bounce: The Tricky Connection
with Leah & Steven

In this class we will go into the idea of bounce as a tool for connection. This class is all about technique and being able to understand and communicate with your partner rather than simply inhabiting the same space for a few moments. We will use a short routine that requires connection through bounce to be successful.

Jump to the Beat
with Leah & Steven

We will cover a new approach for jumping for joy in your lindy. We use simple techniques to show how and where to add a little more hop to some basic moves. This is a great class that begins thinking about where the power of jumps and lifts comes from. We explore new uses of swaying and weight transfer to literally leap from one move to the next. Finally, this is a class that makes your dance lift off and land without any turbulence and ultimately making the dance a fun trip.
